For starters, hope everyone and their family are safe after Hurricane Sandy. The safety of those affected would always be in our prayers. Tonight's meeting was that we had no meeting. We all went to see the Dark Knight Rises at the Hoff Theater. Glad to see the people who came out. It was great meeting you. For next week, we would have editing part 2. It would mainly be about sound editing. However we will have a refresher on the basics of editing, if you were not able to make it last week. Details would be posted soon. Hope to see you then. Stay safe!
At tonight's meeting, we went over editing with Final Cut Pro. NOTE: If you don't have a Mac with Final Cut Pro, you can come down to our office (anytime during office hours or arrange a time with us) or visit any of the OIT Computer Labs on campus (More Information). Tonight meeting was more hands on than before. We were in the CSS Computer Lab and personally worked with the members on the basics of editing. We discussed importing video clips, snipping video clips, transitions, filters, texts, and more. Member were then given time to play with the new skills they learned. If you were not able to make it or just want to practice more, feel free to come down to our office hours or visit any of the Computer Labs on campus.
Another thing to note is that we have our Film Festival on November 30 at 6 pm in the Hoff Theater. More information can be found here. Tonight, our 5th meeting of the semester, we went over some advanced cinematography. Well it wasn't really that advanced stuff, just some additional stuff we didn't talk the previous week. We also went over lighting and the different styles. We learned how lighting can make a huge difference on how your film looks.
If you were not able to make it to the meeting, feel free to come over to any of our office hours. Another option is coming over around 5 pm to the office during our Webseries Writing Session. We'll gladly show you then as well. Speaking of the Webseries, we are meeting every day around 5 pm at the office. Most likely our secretary, Alexander Oshiro, will be there as well as other officers. We would like to start the first episode very soon. Also the 2012 Winter Film Festival has a date: Friday, November 30 at 6 pm in the Hoff Theater at Stamp. Please say you'll be attending on our Facebook Event and our Google+ Event. Please invite everyone you know; we would love to have a high turnout. Thank you to all the actors that came to our semesterly casting call on Friday & Saturday, October 12 & 13. We had a total of 39 actors that came out. Its one of our most successful Casting Call. Thank you again for coming. We want to congratulate all the actors that were casted in a film. Unfortunately, not all that auditioned were not casted. You all gave amazing performances. Please don't fret, we only had a limited amount of roles available. We would have another casting call next semester, so stay tuned to that. However, we have some other opportunities for you to be involved in: the productions team and our webseries. We will update you all as soon as those come along. All actors that participated should have received an email from us; if you have not, please let us know at MarylandFilmmakersClub@gmail.com
Congrats again to all chosen. Looking forward to see you on the big screen! Tonight we went over cinematography! We got a little hand on experience with both cameras we have with the club: the Canon HD Vixia HF S100 & Canon HV40. If you missed the meeting, we have a tutorial about each camera in our Tutorials Section. If you want some real hand on experience with it, come over to our office hours in Room 0208E at the Student Involvement Suite in Stamp Union.
Other news, we have our semesterly Casting Call on Friday & Saturday (10/12 & 13) at 5 pm in the Benjamin Banneker Room in Stamp Union. All members do not have to be there. We just need the director and one other crew member (most likely Producer) to be there. At all times we need someone representing each film there at the Casting Call on both days. Please pass the information about the casting call to anyone who you think would be interested in the Casting Call. |
